About Loudon HFH
Did You Know
In Psalm 8:1,3 & 4, we read “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.” And “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” As awesome as the heavens were in biblical days it is so much more today because of what is has been revealed. Not simply more stars than you could count but more stars than is almost fathomable. Our galaxy is estimated to contain more than a billion stars and at last estimate there are over a billion galaxies.
Also we read in John 1:1-3, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” And then in verse 14, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” As awesome as the heavens seem to day and they were made by Jesus, who is the Word, to try to wrap your mind around the fact He left his rightful place in heaven as creator and came to this earth, being born in the form of man, to redeem us from our sin so that we may truly have life is more than mind bending. Only the love of God could accomplish something so majestic!
Thus it is only right for man to celebrate His birth! Here at Habitat that celebration is truly one of the highlights of the year and reminds us that His love is still alive and well as we recount the accomplishments made possible by all the contributors and volunteers of this past year. Five new homeowners are having a special celebration this Christmas because of your unselfish giving and are joining the Habitat staff and Board of Directors in wishing you and your family the very merriest of Christmases!
At Loudon County Habitat for Humanity, our goal in building houses in partnerships is to provide a home in "which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends." The Goodman family is a prime example of that goal.
Rebecca Goodman, her husband Issac, and their son Issiah moved into their new Habitat home in 2003. The Habitat for Humanity program was a life changing process for the Goodmans. It was a process that has provided security, stability, and the ability to flourish in their new surroundings.
Psalm 103, KJV, reads “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” One day it dawned on me, “How could it be possible for me to bless God?” In my mind it seemed impossible for me to even think that I could bless God. I studied on this for some days and then I came across the passage in Matthew 25:35-40 where Jesus says that when you have helped someone in need you have actually helped Him.
So, being a blessing to someone in need is also blessing God. That is what Habitat is about – helping people in need of decent housing. No wonder one feels blessed when they participate in Habitat as a volunteer or contributor. God always returns in greater measure what you sow into His kingdom.
May his richest blessing be received by you.
